Seahawks Canceled Colin Kaepernick Visit When QB Refused to End Protest

Kaepernick won't stop kneeling?

On Thursday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the team postponed a scheduled Kaepernick workout this week after the quarterback "declined to stop kneeling during the national anthem next season". It's been speculated on quite a bit, but quarterback-needy teams always had some sort of excuse as to why they wouldn't bring in Kaepernick, even if it was crystal clear that he would be their best option.

The Seahawks are searching for a backup quarterback behind Russell Wilson.

It also comes a day after Eric Reid's free agent visit with the Bengals took a turn, when owner Mike Brown asked Reid if he planned on kneeling during the national anthem. He was deposed by the NFL's lawyers in that lawsuit on Tuesday.

After sitting out the entire 2017 season, Kaepernick held a throwing workout on a practice field in Houston last month.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider and coach Pete Caroll want Kaepernick to consider how he wants to proceed on everything and meet at a later date when he has a clearer idea, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Kaepernick opted out of his contract at the end of the year and became an unrestricted free agent that March. McNair has said he was referring to team executives and not kneeling players. He began kneeling during the playing of the national anthem during the 2016 preseason to protest police brutality and racial injustice in the United States.

In 69 games (58 starts), all with the San Francisco 49ers, Kaepernick was 28-30 and had thrown for 12,271 yards, completing 59 percent of his passes and tossing 72 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

On NFL Live, Schefter said there is a possibility that the workout could be canceled. It was taxing; and I think it is something to not be forgotten about this football season.

Incredibly, there are still those who don't believe that he's being blackballed because of his protest, citing stats.
