New BioShock Game in Developement

Next BioShock game currently in development at “top-secret” 2K Games studio

The last new entry in the Bioshock franchise was Bioshock: Infinite in 2013. Since then, there have been some re-releases and remasters for current-generation consoles, but nothing substantial in the way of a new game.

2K had stated previously that the franchise had a life beyond the now-defunct Irrational Games, but thanks to Kotaku's Jason Schreier's investigation into another 2K studio, we now know Bioshock is set for a return with a top-secret 2K studio and is being made under the codename "Parkside".

"If anyone from Hangar 13 tried to strike up a conversation with them, they'd say, 'Oh, we can't really talk about it, '" a source close to the studio told Kotaku. "It was all very tight-lipped".

The compilation set for the game series is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC and MacOS.

2K Games has not yet announced or confirmed any details on a new installment for the IP. Some went to other game companies; others moved to the top-secret studio next door to work on an unannounced new BioShock game.

Mafia III pushed the boundaries of video game storytelling, and left people wondering what the developers at Hangar 13 would do next. "They're careful about not falling into the same problem every studio has, where they have too many people and nothing for them to do".

It's not a surprise that a new BioShock game is in development considering the popularity of the series. However 2K reassured gamers that BioShock is a "permanent franchise", suggesting that it won't be going away anytime soon.

It really shouldn't come as a much of a shock (heh) that 2K would want to bring back BioShock, seeing as the series has sold over 25 million copies. Turns out, Parkside was actually referencing the next BioShock.
