Ever since they were unceremoniously knocked out of the FA Cup after a 2-3 defeat in the 4th round at the hands of West Brom towards the end of January, Liverpool have consistently been firing on all cylinders, wiping out teams that have stood in their way, including the seemingly infallible Manchester City.

No matter how much money he would have cost Liverpool no one would have expected him to bag 40 goals this season, that he cost them around £30 million makes it all the more extraordinary.

Jurgen Klopp, Manager of Liverpool celebrates victory with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of Liverpool after the Premier League match between Liverpool and AFC Bournemouth at Anfield on April 14, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Liverpool face Salah's former club Roma in the semi-finals of the Champions League later this month.

The goal also took him closer to the season's golden boot award further ahead of Harry Kane.

Chelsea kept their faint hopes of Champions League football next season alive by closing to within seven points of Spurs with a stunning eight-minute fightback to deepen Southampton's predicament in the bottom three. "I don't care about the rest".

It was a lovely Anfield day for football and the home side echoed that, opening the scoring with Sadio Mane before Mohamed Salah's header ended any hopes of a Bournemouth revival, Roberto Firmino adding a third late on.

"It is a great feeling, of course it is a great feeling, but in the end I am just happy to score and help the team", he told United Kingdom newspapers.

A Premier League Golden Boot would still be a welcome addition of course for the favourite to finish top scorer after he chalked up his 30th league goal of the campaign.

"I think they're really growing as a team".

"You won't see a better collective team goal this week".

But can he break Rush's record of 47 set back in the 1983-84 season?

Roberto Firmino wrapped up the scoring in the final minute, netting with neat reverse shot inside the near post.

"We played well today and created many chances, scored three goals and it was well deserved".

"But the finish from Mo was a bit of an unusual one for him and one that maybe took everyone by surprise. My own personal pride will try to drive the players to maximise every game".

Still there remained very little goal threat at the other end - with Jermain Defoe anonymous - allowing Salah time to finally find his range.
