Personal items and parts of a vehicle belonging to a missing Valencia family were found this week in a flooded Northern California river amid a continuing search for bodies, officials announced Thursday.

Police determined their auto for being a maroon or burgundy 20-16 Honda Pilot using license plates 7MMX138.

The family was traveling from Portland, Oregon, to Santa Clarita in a 2016 maroon Honda Pilot.

The teams accessed the river in inflatable boats and on River Boards, a small floatation device created to allow full access under overhanging trees or tight areas not accessible by boat. The vehicle itself and the four members of the Thottapilly family have not been recovered from the Eel River, which remains too unsafe for divers to enter, but searchers along the banks located numerous items consistent with a Honda vehicle and interior, and items consistent with a family traveling on vacation, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

When the Thottapillys had not shown up on the afternoon of April 8, Soumya's relatives called the San Jose Police Department, Officer Gina Teeporten told India-West. The sheriff's office released a statement Thursday saying that along with various personal items found that were consistent with a family traveling on vacation, there were several items positively identified by relatives as belonging to the Thottapilly family.

CHP and Mendocino County sheriff's officials are holding a news conference Friday to discuss the case.

The family was traveling as a strong storm dumped rain on Northern California.

The search continues for the family officially reported as missing to the San Jose Police Department on April 8.

"The teams were unsuccessful in locating the vehicle or any occupants from the vehicle". According to the CHP, the crews were unable to find the vehicle or any people, but they found more items consistent with a Honda vehicle.

However, the California Highway Patrol has not concluded why the vehicle went off an ocean overlook.

A "missing" poster shared by household and mates on Fb acknowledged the Thottapilly relations as 42-year-old Sandeep, 38-year-old Soumya, 12-year-old Siddhanty and 9-year-old Saachi. The authorities in Mendocino County had received reports that a vehicle was seen plunging into the Eel River. The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office also aided in the search with the use of their jet boat with side scan sonar system.

Once the vehicle is recovered, the California Highway Patrol will conduct a complete mechanical inspection of the vehicle as part of the accident investigation.

Search crews Friday morning recovered a child's body from the Eel River, a week after a missing Southern California family's auto fell into its waters during an intense rainstorm.
