Of the 23 United Kingdom industry and service sectors covered in the report, 18 prefer convergence or alignment for the majority of key business regulations after Brexit, according to the CBI.

CBI director general, Carolyn Fairbairn said it is vitally important that Brexit negotiators understand the complexity of rules and the effects that even the smallest of changes can have. The creative industries want to maintain as many of these protections as possible on leaving the EU.

Dr. Lee Rotherham, a member of the committee of "political figures, veteran activists and historians that cover the broadest of Eurosceptic opinion" that are running the future museum said to The Guardian of the project: "It's going to be a long, slow business... it's too early to move on to the legacy side of Brexit now, but unless we start the process now, some of the material will potentially be gone". It provides unparalleled evidence to inform good decisions that will protect jobs, investment and living standards across the UK. "Alignment with European Union energy and climate change rules will help achieve secure, an affordable and low-carbon energy supply for customers, as well as help the sector, which supports one in forty-eight jobs across the United Kingdom".

"The UK is a world leading digital economy, and the tech and creative sectors are an exciting mix of home-grown entrepreneurial talent and worldwide businesses". This has been ruled out by Theresa May, warning that it would "threaten the constitutional integrity of the UK". In any event, a key element of the sector's future success will be a stable and proportionate regulatory environment with appropriate checks and balances.

"And - as the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union has said, this is a race to the top on global standards, not a race to the bottom". Our shared strong commitment to open trade, democracy and the rule of law gives us the solid foundation from which to build an exciting and prosperous future.

Across the United Kingdom, the CBI speaks on behalf of 190,000 businesses of all sizes and sectors.
