Artwork Bell, seen on this March 1997 picture, died Friday, Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly confirmed.

Mr. Bell hosted the popular radio talk show "Coast to Coast AM" until 2002. He broadcast the show from his radio station in Pahrump.

Paranormal radio show host Art Bell has died. An autopsy to determine Bell's cause of death is scheduled for later this week.

Bell ruled the late night airwaves during the 1990's with a syndicated show carried by 500 stations featuring wide ranging discussions about freaky conspiracy theories, involving everything from Bigfoot to the paranormal.

George Noory, the current host of Coast to Coast AM, made an announcement concerning Bell's death during his show at about 1:20am Central Time on Saturday, April 14, 2018. He later joined the U.S. Air Force and started his own pirate radio station.

Bell briefly resurfaced in 2013 to do a short-lived show on Sirius XM satellite radio. More recently he was involved in the creation and production of the overnight talk show Midnight in the Desert on the Dark Matter Digital Network.

Throughout Bell's Nationwide Radio Corridor of Fame induction in 2008, his former enterprise accomplice, Alan Corbeth, mentioned nobody was higher than Bell at understanding "how you can create theater of the thoughts".

Bell grew up in a military family and became an FCC-licensed radio technician at 13.
