Last September, Pakistan hosted a World XI in a three-match Independence Cup T20 series in Lahore, as the PCB intensified their bid to have worldwide cricket returned to the country.

"Good news is that West Indies will play three games but these matches will be played in Karachi. CM Sindh is FULLY supporting this PCB initiative".

Karachi will also host the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on March 25.

Earlier both Boards were in talk with each other but West Indies board kept delaying the deal due to some security reasons. "This is part of our agreement with the West Indies board", Sethi told reporters, adding PCB was unlikely to make any profit from the series.

It will be the first global matches in Karachi since Sri Lanka played a Test match in 2009 when the visiting team came under terrorist attack in Lahore and Pakistan became virtually a no go-zone area for foreign teams.

The matches, which were initially scheduled to be played in Lahore, will now be carried out in Karachi.

Pakistan has played virtually all its home series in the United Arab Emirates since then. "That is how we intend to put Karachi back on the cricket map once again". England's former Test batsman Kevin Pietersen, a big draw in the PSL and who plays for Quetta, has made it clear at a press conference in Dubai that he would not travel to Lahore or Karachi. "Karachi people should welcome this". He noted that after the PSL final in Karachi, the city would also host three T20 Internationals against the West Indies in the first week of next week.

West Indies and Pakistan have signed an agreement to play a T20I series every year for the next 5 years.

West Indies will play all three of next month's Twenty20 Internationals in Karachi instead of Lahore, a move created to put the cosmopolitan southeastern city "back on the cricket map".

"This will be a one-off series.it will be a loss-making enterprise".

"We have a separate agreement with the West Indies in which we are exploring a tri-lateral series including Pakistan, West Indies and one other country, which will be played in the U.S. over next five years".
