The No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes will take on the South Dakota Jackrabbits in the NCAA Tournament March Madness West Region on Thursday, start time at 3:00 PM ET, at Taco Bell Arena, Boise, ID.

SDSU's season featured non-conference wins over Ole Miss and Iowa.

The women's basketball team was rewarded for its outstanding 2017-18 season with an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament during a live selection show on ESPN Monday night. However the Buckeyes tournament stay didn't last long, losing to the Penn State Nittany Lions in the quarterfinals.

The Ohio State Buckeyes got their invite to the national tournament thanks to a 24-8 overall record, including a 15-3 record in Big Ten play, good enough for the #2 seed and a double bye in the conference tournament.

What's your prediction for Ohio State? Junior guard C.J. Jackson chips in 12.2 points and a team-best 124 total assists while freshman forward Kaleb Wesson tacks on 10.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Earning the fifth seed is an accomplishment by itself for the Buckeyes this year.

If Ohio State were to advance past South Dakota State, they will face the victor between Gonzaga, the 4-seed, and 13th-seeded UNC-Greensboro.

It is the first appearance in the tournament for the Buckeyes since 2015, when they were eliminated in the third round by No. 2 Arizona.

Redshirt junior forward Keita Bates-Diop, the 2018 Big Ten Player of the Year, averages a team-high 19.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game for Ohio State while senior Jae'Sean Tate adds 12.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
