Recently, Kejriwal also issued an apology to Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia for repeatedly targeting him over the drug problem in Punjab.

"I made certain statements, without regard to its verifiability, which seem to have hurt you and therefore you have filed a defamation case against me".

Today's application was submitted after Kejriwal wrote a letter to Gadkari in which he regretted making defamatory remarks against the leader.

Kejriwal has been dragged to courts in several defamation cases by various political leaders, including Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Expressing his regret over "unverified allegations" against Gadkari, Arvind urged him to forget the incident and close the court proceedings. I ahve nothing personal againbst you. "I regret the same".

Reacting to Arvind Kejriwal's apology to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Congress leader Kapil Sibal, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday said the AAP government do not have time to visit courts and they wanted to concentrate on the welfare of the people.

"Kejriwal Ji and Sisodia ji have accepted that the allegations they had put on me & my son in a press conference few yrs ago were baseless".

In his complaint, Amit Sibal has named Kejriwal, Prashant Bhushan and Shazia Ilmi alleging that Kapil Sibal had a conflict in seeking to revise a tax demand on telecom major Vodafone.

Majithia filed a defamation case against Kejriwal and Ashish Khetan in May 2015 after the AAP leaders alleged that the then Punjab minister was involved in the drug trade.

The Delhi chief minister's apology to Majithia created a rift within the party.
