The President who travelled to Damaturu, Yobe State capital assured Nigerians and the global community that the missing 110 apchi girls will be rescued or released.

On February 19, over a hundred schoolgirls were abducted from a school in the town of Dapchi, Nigeria.

In April 2014, more than 200 girls were stolen from a school in Chibok, Borno State.

"Anyone found wanting by the committee investigating the circumstances that led to the abduction of the girls will not be spared", he said.

Ezekwesili, who was flanked by other BBOG members and human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), said the government would be sued for gross negligence.

Falana joined the group at its sit-out in Abuja, calling for the release of the girls.

He said, "The Federal Government's response to the unfortunate abduction of the school girls is a clear departure from the insensitivity of the past administration which looked the other way while the Chibok girls were taken away in 2014 and held in captivity for over three years".

We, therefore, have no doubt that the Dapchi girls will be rescued or released.

The ex-minister also asked the government to explain what happened to the Safe School Initiative that was signed by the Federal Government in 2014 and to which it committed $10m alongside other donations by the several donors, including the worldwide community.

He said he has read a comprehensive report on what the federal government is doing to rescue the schoolgirls in good health, and they have deployed police, soldiers and other security operatives for continuous search.

"There will be no rest till the last girl, whether from Chibok and Dapchi, is released".

"We have asked all our stakeholders to embark on rigorous prayers for the safe return of the abducted Girls of GGSTC".

"How was it that the terrorists carried out their activity for hours unchallenged by forces of the FG?"

Yobe Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, pleaded for an enhanced synergy among security operatives to improve security in the state and the North-East.

"We still want him to consider the negotiation option as he promised to avoid using military force that would jeopardize the lives of our daughters", he said.

"In addition, the Nigerian Airforce has maintained aerial surveillance of the area. What happened to our Intelligence assets - satellite links & military aircraft - that were procured to prevent & abort such scale of elaborate attack by terrorists?"
