Cricket South Africa officials caught posing with fans in Sonny Bill masks

That incident is behind a fiery exchange between Warner and South Africa's Quentin de Kock during the First Test.

Williams, of course, is a Rugby player from New Zealand and the same man with whom Warner's wife Candice had an infamous toilet tryst in a Sydney bar 11 years ago, much before she met the Aussie vice-captain.

Warner and de Kock were both fined and given disciplinary sanctions for the altercation.

Two Cricket South Africa executives have been photographed at the second Test posing alongside spectators wearing Sonny Bill Williams masks, worn as a ploy to taunt Australian opener and vice-captain David Warner.

Australian players and officials are reportedly outraged about the photo.

The Proteas supporters wore those masks in a bid to rile up Warner. The day before the Port Elizabeth Test, social media posts, including one by a reporter (who is not working on this game) with the host broadcaster SuperSport shared photographs of fans making Williams' masks and of a songbook with lyrics containing vulgar and derogatory language.

"Initially security wouldn't let them in", Kazi told Fairfax.

"We found out because (the spectators) contacted us and we then went to security and got them in".

"They're fans.they wanted to come with them".

"They said "let's take a photo with you guys". People come in dressed as all sorts of things.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Cricket South Africa distanced itself from the action of the officials, marketing manager Clive Eksteen and communications manager Altaaf Kazi. CSA president Chris Nenzani apologised to the board of Cricket Australia and its officials, team management, players and their families.

Australia's David Warner raises his bat as he reaches a half century on the first day of the second cricket test between South Africa and Australia at St. George's Park in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Friday, March 9, 2018.
