Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger makes defiant claim ahead of Brighton trip

Brighton will look to take advantage of Arsenal's recent struggles

"Reacting to the latest protests and empty seats at the Emirates in Arsenal's 3-0 league defeat to City, RTÉ soccer analyst Dunphy told 2fm's Game On: "[The fans] blame Arsene Wenger and they want him to go but the club's policy over the last ten years, that's to blame.

"You look at the score and the temptation is to think it was all rubbish, but that is not the case", he said.

Arsenal are a massive 30 points behind Premier League leaders City and 13 points off fourth place. We analyse that at the end of the season and don't worry. I feel he would've then gone if he got beat by Brighton.

Club icon Henry, who is fondly remembered in north London for breaking the Gunners' all-time goalscoring record, has been mooted as an option to cut his management teeth at the very highest level, with the Frenchman boasting the fan support that Wenger now lacks. I'm always relaxed about speculation but my focus is only on Celtic.

"I've face hard situations in my life and it helps when you know how to deal with that".

"But you have as well to take a little bit of perspective and understand that we played against a team (City) that is not only top quality, but in full confidence at the moment".

The results, coupled with poor performances, have seen Wenger come under fresh criticism from supporters and pundits alike. I'm not going to be here forever but I'm living in a dream - although dreams always come to an end at some point, that's for sure.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton admits they're facing Arsenal at the worst time.

"Arsenal now are exposed because all the achievement under Wenger has made them into a big club, but that's gone, it's over". The way they play, they are one of the best teams in the world. "I am surprised you are surprised", continued Wenger.

Guardiola also publicly thanked the club's owner Sheikh Mansour and chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak after delivering his first trophy in the League Cup over Arsenal last weekend.

"We will not allow ourselves to get caught up in Arsenal having had a couple of hard games and we are in good form, we can't afford to get caught up it that, we can only afford to play the right type of game".
