As the world's representative athletes entered the stadium at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics Opening Ceremony, K-pop fans recognized some familiar hits being played!

The IOC has been working to arrange North Korea's participation in the PyeongChang Olympics, the first Winter Games in South Korea.

Kim Yo Jong shook hands with Moon at the beginning of the ceremony.

News reports said 4,000 of the phones were being given to athletes attending the Pyeongchang games, but that athletes from Iran and North Korea would be excluded because of United Nations sanctions against the two countries over their nuclear programs.

South Korean president shakes hands with North Korean leader's sister during opening ceremony. Reviving inter-Korean talks is key to the polices of Moon, who says South Korea should be in the driver's seat in global efforts to deal with the North's nuclear threat.

During the meeting, Kim Yo Jong sought to encourage Moon to visit Pyongyang.

South Korea's leadership has taken pains to say it is only doing what needs to be done.

The stakes were high, given Kim Jong-un's pursuit of nuclear weapons.

The Iranian foreign minister issued an ultimatum on Thursday to Samsung Co. urging it to apologize for excluding the Iranian Olympians from receiving phones as a gift in the South Korea Winter Olympics, a source said.

The U.S. has 242 athletes competing in Pyeongchang, the most of any country and the largest team in Winter Games history.

In a rare show of unity, athletes from South and North Korea will march together under a "unification flag".

Events to watchChris Corning and the USA men are ready to fly.

It would be the first summit in more than a decade between Korean leaders.

The countries are still technically at war since a 1953 armistice, though they have resumed talks after a year-long standoff between North Korea and the United States in which an exchange of threats between the heads of state elevated tensions and prompted the North's continued missile and nuclear tests.

According to Yonhap News Agency, they paraded to an EDM remix of "Arirang", a traditional Korean folk song, instead of the Koreas' respective national anthems.

Thirty years later, there have been sporadic protests against the presence of North Koreans in Pyeongchang, although opinion is split.

"You will inspire us all to live together in peace and harmony despite all the differences we have", said International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach, before Moon declared the Games open.
