2019 Toyota TRD Pro Off Road Trucks Unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show

Here's how it shook out: Toyota added a new Sport model to the Tundra lineup for 2018 and believed that special trim was enough for the year.

The Tundra TRD Pro uses Fox shocks and TRD springs for 2-inches of front lift.

Toyota rolled out updated TRD Pro trims for the midsize Tacoma pickup, the full-size Tundra and the 4Runner SUV, adding a snorkel-like intake on the Tacoma and internal-bypass shocks across the lineup. The 2019 model trucks will be available this fall and each of the Pro vehicles will be offered in three colors including Super White, Midnight Black Metallic, and Voodoo Blue.

The Japanese firm on Thursday presented its 2019 TRD Pro lineup at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show.

Regardless of which TRD Pro model you choose, all 2019 models are equipped with new Fox 2.5-inch internal bypass shocks to supplement the trucks' raised suspensions and extra wheel articulation. Each of the vehicles gets Fox shocks tuned exactly for it at TRD. The available desert intake on the Tacoma prevents sucking up dust from the wheel well, Toyota said. And better still, the Tacoma TRD Pro gets an optional snorkel.

LED lighting is also in store for the 2019 Tundra TRD Pro, plus a new hood scoop and more TRD Pro badges.

For the nose of the off-roaders, TRD fitted a new Desert Air Intake, created to sustain consistent off-road performance regardless of the quantities of silt or dirt the wheels throw up in the air, as the air ingestion is done above the windshield. This truck has Rigid Industries fog lights, LED headlights, and LED accent lights. They are paired with TRD-tuned springs that provide an additional 1 inch of front lift. It can be fitted with the Premium JBL Audio system and gets several TRD touches on the inside. Together, those systems include stability and traction control, an anti-lock brake system, brake-force distribution, smart-stop technology, a precollision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, sway control, auto high beams and radar cruise control.
