Super Aguero hits four as Man City thrash Leicester

Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez, who nearly joined Manchester City at the end of January, received an ovation from both sets of fans as he returned from his self-imposed exile to make an appearance as a second-half substitute.

But the club have now announced that Mahrez is back training, saying in a statement: "Riyad Mahrez has today (Friday) returned to training with the Leicester City squad".

The City boss defended his call saying that a combination of injuries and a youth team game at the same time had contributed to his decision to travel to Turf Moor with just 17 players.

Leicester manager Claude Puel appeared to rule Mahrez out of Saturday's match on Thursday, but opened the door for his return for the rest of the season. "It is a good feeling, the players have kept their focus about the next games. The best way is to come back and enjoy his football", Puel said.

The outstanding Kevin de Bruyne provided three assists on the night, his first as early as the third minute when he played in a menacing low cross which the Leicester defence failed to deal with, for Sterling to tap in from close range.

But, as ever, there are other stats to make you think twice about placing that bet; such as the one that says Leicester haven't collected a single point in their last nine games against sides who were top of the table on the day they played them.

"Hopefully we can keep doing the same way".

The Foxes have picked up just one point in their last two games, and it appears that Riyad Mahrez's ongoing strike is influencing their on-pitch performances. Congratulations to him because it's not easy to score four goals.

The win puts City 16 points clear of Manchester United ahead of their match with Newcastle United on Sunday.

Stones is available to play against Leicester on Saturday, although Silva misses out with a hip injury.

The half ended with City in the ascendancy with Aguero, Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan all having shots on goal.

The Foxes responded by bringing on Mahrez, and former City striker Kelechi Iheanacho to try and change the tempo of the game, but in truth the game was already long beyond Leicester.

The home side, shell-shocked by Leicester's unexpected equalizer, were soon back on the prowl as they attempted to restore their lead.
