Stranger Things Season 3 Episode Count Revealed By Michael Ausiello February 9 2018 11:59 AM PST 7

As the majority of the teenaged cast grows older, it's tougher not to have a time jump with each season and from the sound of things it appears the kids from "Stranger Things" might be entering high school in season three.

We finally know how many episodes Stranger Things' forthcoming third season will consist of and, sadly, it's less than Eleven.

Stranger Things' third season will be one episode less than the previous run. Not everybody particularly loved the "Lost Sister" episode, and it's undoubtedly the most divisive, but it did serve a goal, and the Duffer brothers stood by their decision to send Eleven off on her own for a full episode. That's one episode less than the nine that made up season 2, but we imagine that a whole lot of action, chaos, trials and tribulations will be woven throughout each of them.

My guess is that the narrative of Season 3 does not support a ninth episode. While we still don't know much about the plot other than that Will will get a bit of a break, eight episodes may mean that the plot keeps the characters together in one arc more than Season 2. Usually when a show is as successful Stranger Things, the episode count increases.

The upcoming season of Stranger Things will see the return of cast members Brown, Harbour, Schnapp Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Cara Buono, Natalie Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery, and Sadie Sink.

Season 2 is expected to go into production in April, with the new episodes likely to arrive in 2019, although Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date. Last month, producer Shawn Levy confirmed that the upcoming season will feature "forces of evil that are new".
