Rangana Herath Becomes Most Successful Left Arm Bowler in Test Cricket

Bangladesh out for 110, path Sri Lanka in 2nd check

Off-spinner Akila Dananjaya claimed five wickets in an innings on debut as Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 215 runs in the second Test to win the two-Test series 1-0 in Dhaka on Saturday.

The first Test in Chittagong ended in a draw. Mominul Haque was batting on 31, with Mushfiqur Rahim 2 on an increasingly deteriorating pitch.

Herath (4-49) and debutant Akila Dananjaya (5-24) did nearly all of the damage for the tourists, who were bowled out for 226 in their second innings earlier on Saturday.

With the comfort of a huge target to defend, Dananjaya ran through the Bangladesh line-up, taking 5 for 24 on his Test debut. These are also the 3rd fewest Sri Lanka needed to bowl out a team in an innings with all the top three coming against Bangladesh. Bangladesh had scored 110 in its first innings.

Sri Lanka earlier was dismissed after adding 26 run from its overnight total of 200-8. Bangladesh would have to break the record for their highest ever run chase in Test cricket already if they are to pull of an unlikely victory here. Roshen Silva, who guided the lower order, was unbeaten on 70.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam bowled Lakmal for 21 to end the partnership before he trapped Herath leg-before off the next ball to wrap up the Sri Lanka innings.

Pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman then removed Danushka Gunathilaka for 17 but Karunaratne remained.
