Embattled movie producer Harvey Weinstein was sued by NY officials for creating a hostile work environment at the Weinstein Co. that allegedly featured "pervasive sexual harassment", intimidation and discrimination.

"As alleged in our complaint, The Weinstein Company repeatedly broke NY law by failing to protect its employees from pervasive sexual harassment, intimidation and discrimination", Mr Schneiderman said. Schneiderman's office said any sale must ensure that victims are compensated.

The state's move comes days before the Weinstein Co. was set to finalize a sale of the beleaguered company to an investor group led by Maria Contreras-Sweet, the former Small Business Administration head under the Obama administration. The suit references the Weinstein Company's COO, but does not use Glasser's name.

Weinstein, the disgraced movie mogul, was ousted from his role at The Weinstein Company previous year after numerous reports of sexual misconduct.

The lawsuit accuses Weinstein of creating a culture of abuse at his company and includes a variety of specific references to the abuse.

In court papers filed in Manhattan on Sunday, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (SHNEYE'-dur-muhn) says the Weinstein Co. The entourage was known to witnesses as Weinstein's "wing women".

A third group were were forced to facilitate Weinstein's sexual conquests, and to follow through on HW's promise of employment opportunities to women who met with Weinstein's favor. One female employee alleged that Harvey Weinstein exposed himself to her and would touch her without consent.
