EL SEGUNDO, California - The Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday were fined $50,000 by the National Basketball Association for another violation of the league's anti-tampering rule after team president Magic Johnson recently praised Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Los Angeles was fined $50,000 for the violation. I'm just happy he's starting in the All-Star game because he deserves that. This dude, he's going to put Milwaukee on the map. "The fine is in response to statements regarding the Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo made by Earvin Johnson in a recent media interview".

Johnson specifically said Antetokounmpo would win a championship in Milwaukee. "You know what that means, right?"

Here is part of what Johnson said when asked if he saw any similarities to Antetokoumpo's game and his own. "And I think he's going to bring them a championship one day". For almost a year, the new Lakers front office, led by president Magic Johnson, has been gearing up for the loaded 2018 NBA Free Agency class which will be headlined by LeBron James, Paul George and DeMarcus Cousins, among others.

Johnson has to remember, however, that he is part of an National Basketball Association front office now and can not comment on players the way he did as an analyst. This one stemmed from Johnson making an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

Johnson was named the Lakers' team president in February 2017. "Cousins has a torn Achilles tendon, George has suggested to ESPN's Rachel Nichols that the Thunder have an advantage in re-signing him, and James is believed to have a reluctance toward signing with the Lakers without an established star immediately joining him", added the report, indicating that the Lakers could keep their core group together for another season. This, however, just seems a little more ridiculous.

Curiously, this news came down on the same day as by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne that the Lakers' front office was no longer putting all its eggs in the summer of 2018 free agency basket.

This is the Lakers' third tampering fine involving Johnson. If he violates the rules again, the National Basketball Association could come down harder next time as it would be the third offense.
