Knicks' Kristaps Porzingis goes down with left knee injury vs

Porzingis dunked with 8:46 left in the half and landed awkwardly, crashing to the court and holding his left knee.

Enes Kanter led NY with 19 points and 16 rebounds.

The injury, which occurred after his dunk over Giannis Antetokounmpo occurred 12 days before Porzingis was slated to make his first All-Star appearance, in Los Angeles for Team LeBron. His left ankle seemed to buckle on the play. He was pounding his fist when he wasn't grabbing for his left knee. He was helped off the court and taken to the locker room.

While we don't know the severity of his injury quite yet, ESPN's Ian Begley took to Twitter to give an update, suggesting that Porzingus was doing better after the initial scare. It looked bad at the time, but it's always tough to speculate just how bad these injuries actually are. But a winter swoon soon started, and now the Knicks look more like the punchline they've been for much of this millennium, only this time, it's more sad than amusing. He's about to be an All-Star.

Given Porzingis' importance to New York's future, the organization will want to be cautious with his development and ensure he's 100 percent before playing again, much the same as how the Bulls and Bucks handled their young players.

The Knicks scored the next nine points and pulled within 12 points on a pair of occasions in the final quarter, but never got any closer. The popular Latvian star is averaging just under 23 points per game this year, with 6.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks.

NY was leading 31-30 at the time of injury, and Porzingis was off to a great start in the game, scoring 10 points after hitting four of his first five shots.

Knicks: New York has dropped 10 of its last 13 games against the Bucks.

The New York Knicks lost a game and their star player Tuesday night. He has become the new face of the franchise and has the talent to lead the team back to the playoffs.

The recovery after an ACL tear could be anywhere from eight months to at least a year, Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reported. A pair of players who suffered ACL tears last February stand as good examples. "He can do it".
