Peter and Paul Catholic School in Miami, Florida, but was told to leave when she got back from her wedding to Natasha Hass, her partner of two years.

Jocelyn Morffi was a first grade teacher at Sts.

According to the Miami Herald, Jocelyn Morffi was sacked from her job at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School in Miami, where she had worked for seven years, days after she married Natasha Hass.

"This weekend I married the love of my life and unfortunately I was terminated from my job as a result", Morffi, who had taught at the school for more than six years, wrote Friday in a Facebook post. Peter and Paul Catholic School's decision and are demanding answers after Jocelyn Morffi, a beloved teacher, was dismissed, the Miami Herald reported. When Morffi refused to do the same, she was sacked. In the past few years there have been many cases of employees at Catholic institutions being fired after marrying a same-sex partner.

"When they sign the contract, the agreement is to follow policies, procedures and teachings of the Catholic Church".

Mary Ross Agosta, a spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Miami said Morffi was sacked because 'she broke the contract she signed when she began teaching at a Catholic school'.

The termination was apparently triggered by a moral turpitude clause that was enacted, suggesting that had Mrs Morffi not posted about her wedding online she would have kept her job. She never imposes her personal beliefs on others. "She is no longer teaching at our school", the letter said.

Almost a dozen parents with children who had been in Mrs Morffi's class fronted the school to protest the firing, many calling her a "great teacher", adding they were aware she was gay.

Cini further advised that while the parents hadn't known that Morffi was a lesbian, they didn't care.

It said: "Today a hard and necessary decision has been made regarding Ms Jocelyn Morffi, our first-grade teacher".

'Our only concern was the way she was with our children, the way she taught our children and this woman by far was one of the best teachers out there, ' she explained.

Morffi worked for Sts.

"Completely outraged, distraught, disappointed that the school could and took the reaction and the course of action that they have in regards to Miss Morffi". She said the primary did not give the guardians a reason Morffi was expelled.

Miami-Dade County has an ordinance that prevents discrimination based on sexual orientation, but it makes an exception for religious institutions.

"I think its shocking that in this day and age this continues to happen in South Florida", said Tony Lima, executive director of the South Florida LGBT rights group SAVE.

'I'm upset, ' said Christina Lopez, whose son was in Morffi's class. She just does everything in love.
