Apple's TV app, available across its iOS and tvOS devices, has added live news to its slate of available TV and streaming video apps.

Apple has added a dedicated News section to its TV app on the Apple TV and iOS devices.

The live news feature is rolling out to US users running the latest version of iOS and tvOS. The TV app uses your Single Sign-On login credentials to log you into each of those apps, making it seamless to set up multiple different news sources. Both Google's and Apple's news hits speak to how those in the business of tech but outside the traditional business of media are looking to get their own share of audience around the Olympics, which is one of the most-watched sporting events in the world.

According to 9to5Mac, the update provides users with instant live news access from outlets including CBS News, CNN, Fox News, Cheddar, CNBC, and Bloomberg.

MacRumors reports that aside from the usual news updates, the new section also features a planner that people can use to figure the specific schedule of events.

If you tap on a news source for which you don't have the app, you are prompted to install it without having to go to the App Store. For example, users can ask Siri to show a Bloomberg broadcast, which will trigger the live stream, notes TechCrunch.

Apple originally demoed this feature back in September when it unveiled the Apple TV 4K.

The News section in the TV application is accessible under the main "Watch Now" header. Try it out and let me know how you like it.
