Focus On Low Hanging Fruits To Show Results And Create Optimism: PM Modi 0 By Aruna Sharma

Niti Aayog, which organised the event, said this is expected to promote competition among the districts in view of the Prime Minister's vision of transforming India by 2022.

BJP and TDP parliamentarians from Andhra Pradesh called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday and urged him to fulfil all promises made to the state after bifurcation at the earliest. In a memorandum submitted to Modi, the MPs said though nearly four years passed after the state's bifurcation, several issues relating to the AP State Reorganisation Act remained unaddressed and appealed the Prime Minister to expedite the process for delivering the promises.

The Prime Minister said that relative backwardness of some regions is an injustice to the people living there. Stressing that all round and inclusive development is essential, the Prime Minister said that even in the states with strong development indicators there would be areas which would need greater push.

He said, banks were nationalized in the 60's but that did not give the poor access to the banks.

He further said that the system and officials showed that "it is possible to electrify villages at a record pace and it is possible to build toilets in our cities as well as villages at historic speed".

Mr Modi also urged the participants to find innovative ways to bring in change.

These districts will be divided across government ministries for closer scrutiny and monitoring of ongoing government schemes, said NITI Aayog chief executive Amitabh Kant.

He emphasized that there is limitless potential, limitless possibilities, and limitless opportunities in India. The conference will discuss plans and budgets for development of the Most Backward Districts (MBDs) of the states.
