Morgan previously spoke to Trump for ITV while he was on the campaign trial in 2016, but this will be the first time that he, or any other journalist, has interviewed the USA president for global TV since he took office.

The meeting of the minds (and egos) will be the first time Trump has given an worldwide interview as US President.

Morgan and Trump became friends while the former News of the World editor, who was working at CNN at the time, after he won the US' Celebrity Apprentice.

Morgan, 52, said he will discuss the interview and show clips from it on Friday during ITV's Good Morning Britain programme, which he co-hosts.

Morgan has in the past praised Trump.

'I genuinely like him, ' Morgan said past year. In the 2016 interview Trump criticised Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, as "rude" and "ignorant".

Morgan has also been critical of some of Trump's actions.

Piers has long defended his friend Trump, but criticized him on policies including his decision to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv, and his retweeting of far-right group Britain First.

It's both a popular ski resort and the location for the World Economic Forum, which Trump is attending during January 25 and 26.

The interview will be broadcast on Sunday January 28 on ITV at 10pm.

Following the announcement, Morgan shared a picture of himself filming in Davos on Twitter.

Morgan has built a successful TV career since leaving the Daily Mirror under a cloud in 2004 after photos it printed of British soldiers seemingly abusing an Iraqi were shown to be a hoax.
