Manchester United are increasingly confident of winning the race to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, with sources telling ESPN FC that Jose Mourinho first raised the prospect of using Henrikh Mkhitaryan as leverage for a deal last summer.

The Armenia forward started this season in fine form but has gone off the boil completely and found game-time hard to come by recently.

"My approach to players is that every player has a price", Mourinho said - quoted by Sky Sports.

There was also a feeling within Old Trafford that Arsenal, and manager Arsene Wenger, would not sanction a sale to United and Mourinho due to the embarrassment caused by Robin van Persie's success in a United shirt following his move there in 2012 and, perhaps more significantly, the long-running tension between Mourinho and Wenger.

Midfielder Fellaini, who is waiting on United to offer him an improved contract, also posted a celebratory photo to the social media site as the squad took time out from another intense set of drills in the heat of the United Arab Emirates. It doesn't matter who. It doesn't matter the prestige, or the status.

Manchester United won't consider loaning out Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

Jose Mourinho has outlined both his, and the clubs transfer policy with regard to making signings in the January transfer window.

"He consulted other doctors and other opinions, and we all made the decision to stop treatment".

"But Mkhitaryan played the last match in the FA Cup against Derby".

If United do land the signing of Alexis Sanchez, it is unknown if he would be a replacement for the missed signing of Perisic from last summer, or whether he then makes next summer's transfer activity that little bit easier.

"He is our player and a very good player".

The Armenia worldwide has started only two of United's last 15 games and was left out of Mourinho's matchday squad for six consecutive matches in November and December. So tomorrow training, then Sunday selected and Monday play'.
