The FAW had reportedly whittled the potential list of successors down to a three-man shortlist, comprising of Giggs, current assistant Osian Roberts and Tony Pulis, who has since taken over at Middlesbrough.

Ryan Giggs' lengthy wait for a job in the chaotic world of football management could finally be over after it was revealed that the rookie boss was interviewed for the Wales vacancy.

A decision is expected in the coming days.

The FAW is thought to be keen on appointing a Welshman following Coleman's successful five-year reign.

The FAW have taken their time in considering which direction they want to go in but have now interviewed four candidates and will pick one before the draw for the Uefa Nations League on January 24.

Giggs, who played for Wales 64 times, has made no secret of his desire to succeed Chris Coleman as national team coach, which he described past year as his ideal job.

But Giggs would not be a popular appointment with some Wales fans, who questioned his commitment during his 16-year worldwide playing career.

Giggs and Bradley both interviewed for the Swansea job a year ago before the American was appointed manager on October 3.

Cardiff-born Bellamy won 78 caps - the country's fourth most-capped player - and few could match his passion in a Wales shirt.

The former Newcastle, Liverpool and Blackburn forward is now an academy coach at Cardiff City, where he ended his playing career in 2014.

Coleman took Wales to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 but stepped down last November after they failed to qualify for this year's World Cup Finals in Russian Federation.

Roberts, from Anglesey, knows the Welsh system inside-out as he has worked throughout all age grades.

Bowen is available after leaving Stoke, where he was assistant to boss Mark Hughes who was sacked by the Potters on 6 January.
