Silva extends contract with Manchester City

Manchester City have provided their fans with the news they've all been waiting for, with David Silva having finally extended his contract.

Kevin De Bruyne once again showed his true class with a fabulous assist for Manchester City, to help Pep Guardiola's side secure a record-equalling 13th consecutive Premier League win.

The Spanish midfielder has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2020, the year which will mark his 10th at the club.

Silva said of his extension: "I am so happy to have committed my future to City".

Carragher believes we are looking at the best player to have donned the City colours.

The likes of Sergio Agüero, who is now their all-time top goalscorer, Yaya Touré and Vincent Kompany have all played to an extremely high level for City, but Jamie Carragher believes there is one who is a level above them and another who could surpass them all.

Silva joined City from Valencia in 2010 and has been one the most influential players in the club's history.

'Now I mentioned City's greatest ever players, all the City fans may say Colin Bell, I don't know but in David Silva, he is the greatest City one.

'I think for me, he is if not the best creative midfielder that we have seen in this league, personally, ' Henry added.

'He is courageous on the ball and also off the ball. The Sky Blues are unbeaten in the league so far and Silva has played a starring role for the Citizens this year as well.

The pair of midfield maestros demonstrated their quality when it mattered most today as De Bruyne's perfectly placed cross found Silva's run before the Spaniard made the flawless connection with the ball to put it the other side of Hammers goalkeeper, Adrian, and make sure all three points remained at the Etihad.

'He is one of the greatest we've had, David Silva.

While Arsenal's Mesut Ozil is often hailed as the assist king in the Premier League, it's clear that De Bruyne is truly the top dog.
