10 Y.O. Brisbane Boy Shot In Shoulder During Attempted Boxing Day Armed Robbery

A 10-year-old Australian boy ran into his room and hid under his bed after being shot by two masked offenders while his father fought them off and his wife watched on.

The victim has been described as a "lovely boy".

The police dog's handler was also injured separating the pair, sustaining lacerations.

The boy can't be identified for legal reasons, but 9NEWS has obtained vision of him driving a auto on property owned by a family friend. "It makes you anxious about what people are capable of".

The boy was taken to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital, while his father was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital with an abdomen injury.

According to Detective Inspector for Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch Tod Reid, a struggle ensued and the man's son was shot in his left shoulder by a longround firearm.

"This is an abhorrent crime".

"They've shot a 10-year-old child, on Boxing Day" he said.

Police are still searching for the men who shot the little boy in the shoulder at the home in Browns Plains.

"We want to solve it but we need your help".

Det Insp Reid said no motive was apparent for the attack, nor was it clear at this stage if the offenders were known to the family.

He was eventually able to steal the gun and may have hit the attackers with it, leaving them with facial injuries bad enough they would still be evident on Wednesday, Inspector Reid said.

Anyone who may have seen or who has dashcam footage of two men entering a vehicle in the westbound lanes of Browns Plains Road in the vicinity of Waller Road at around 8pm Tuesday, are being encouraged to contact police.
