Sheriff says suspect swerved to hit fallen deputy

It was at the intersection of M-15 and Seymour Lake Road that the deputy was hit.

Deputies are investigating after an officer was hit and killed around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

Before it had began, the suspect made threats and was behaving in a way that was deemed an "imminent threat" to the public, according to the sheriff's office.

At the intersection of SB M-15 and Seymour Lake Road the Deputy was just outside of his patrol auto about to deploy "Stop Sticks" when the fleeing suspect hit the Deputy and the suspect's vehicle then rolled over.

"Lapeer County Sheriff's Office's thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this fine deputy along with the entire Oakland County Sheriffs Office", the sheriff's office said.

The pursuit started in Lapeer County, and after moving westbound on I-69, the suspect traveled southbound on M-15 into Oakland County's Brandon Township.

"Great guy, touched a lot of lives", Oakland County Michael Bouchard said to Fox 2 Detroit.
