Papa John's fights neo-Nazi backlash with middle-finger emoji

Papa John's added that they support the players' right to protest inequality, and that they believe there is a way to "create a new platform for change" and "honor our anthem" at the same time.

The Twitter bio reads, "Better Ingredients, Better Pizza, Better Tweets". "I really doubt it".

Many fans on both sides of the national anthem protests debate have took to boycotting the NFL - with some saying they refuse to watch another game until Colin Kaepernick is signed, while others say they'll continue to boycott the NFL until the anthem protests end. "They don't need your permission or to compromise to benefit you".

Papa John's replied to some of the responses, acknowledging that it "should have acted sooner" following Schnatter's comments. "This should've been nipped in the bud a year and half ago". But we're certainly disappointed that the National Football League and its leadership did not resolve the ongoing situation to the satisfaction of all parties long ago. "The NFL has hurt Papa John's shareholders". Papa John's president and chief operating officer Steve Ritchie has said that research has found that Papa John's has been the most recognized sponsor associated with the NFL for two years running, which he said means the company's performance can track with that of the league. While it's not required, Commissioner Roger Goodell has made it clear he wants players to stand. Yeah, well, that's back, sort of, as the pizza chain issued a tepid apology on Tuesday - about two weeks after the fact - and in doing so took a swipe at neo-Nazis.

According to the NY Daily News even though the company has singled out protests during the anthem as a primary reason behind declining sales, commercials starring Peyton Manning, an alleged sexual harasser, continue to air which could also be one of the reasons behind the decline in sales.
