"Maybe after a few days or [even] months, we could be called again for questioning, and we would answer whatever questions they [ I-T officials] raise".

While Dhinakaran has been blaming the BJP and estranged AIADMK leaders, including Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, for the tax raids and police action against Sasikala's family members, Jayaraman said he did not think the raids were politically motivated. In all, 355 people have so far come under the I-T scanner in this round of searches.

A top tax investigation official in Chennai said that more than Rs 7 crore in cash and jewellery worth over Rs 5 crore were seized during the searches. The officials also found large-scale immovable assets during the operation. These companies have been floated by the family members of Sasikala and have been working on a minimum capital.

"There were documents of companies, general accounts and so on".

"A lot of incriminating documents were found and prima facie we have detected undisclosed income of Rs1,430 crore", an official who did not want to be named told PTI.

Jaya TV MD says he doesn't see any motives behind the IT raids at his home, channel's office

Jaya TV office was one among the 187 premises searched by the I-T officials in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and New Delhi for five successive days till Monday as part of its "operation clean money". But, very significantly, the channel turned into a bitter critic of the E Palaniswami government after the rift with the rebel group led by O Panneerselvam was sealed.

The raids began on Thursday with a team of around 1,800 IT officials simultaneously raiding 187 locations belonging to relatives of Sasikala - who is now lodged in the Parapana Agrahara central jail, her nephew TTV Dinakaran and their business associates in several cities. Vivek's 2015 business deal with SPI Cinemas is also being investigated.

Several documents pertaining to benami transactions in the names of several household staff have been seized by tax officials.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Jayaraman disagreed when asked about a political motive behind the searches.

However, the I-T officials have denied giving any confirmation above reports and have said that they will give detailed information of the raids only after completing the five-day search.
