Chilly start to the day with highs still below normal

After a week of warmer than average afternoon temperatures and clear skies, Blacksburg will finally begin to feel much more like fall this week. Patchy fog will be possible early Friday morning.

That same area of high pressure will provide a nice day on Friday. Some locations could hit the 70° mark tomorrow. Clouds increase through the day with showers arriving as early as the late evening. The chance for rain will continue throughout the day tomorrow. Our far western counties would want to bring a rain jacket, just to be safe. Highs will be in the 30s and 40s. Plan on temperatures warming into the lower and middle 70s by afternoon. The window for stronger storms will come from about 10 p.m. Friday through 2 a.m. Saturday. Once again, high temperatures will occur in the morning hours. With temperatures expected to be in the upper 40s north and low 50s south, precipitation should remain in the form of rain this evening and overnight. Consider that if you have a high school football game scheduled. Rain over south MS should end well before kickoff. This would be great news for anyone attending.

We are dropping the rain chances to a slight 20% Sunday. Highs will only reach the low-mid 40s by the afternoon hours. Sunday looks like a washout. The bulk of the rain will be gone by then, but we will still have a few lingering showers. While Monday looks cold, Halloween on Tuesday will likely have a brief warm-up into the 50s.

Today: Mostly cloudy, occasional rain, cooler.
